Dirt collected is ejected out automatically with little fluid loss. Shell is fabricated in MS and designed to handle working pressure. Filter elements are SS304 wedge-wire screen candles, mounted vertically with bottom ends open to dirty fluid and top ends closed.
All candles are exposed to dirty fluid flow except one during backwash. Dirt collects inside candles; a rotary face seal aligns one candle outlet to the backwash port. The backwash valve opens briefly, using the pressure differential between working pressure and atmosphere for effective cleaning.
When preset pressure drop or elapsed time is reached, the seal aligns with the next candle and the process repeats automatically. A recovery filter recovers fluid ejected with dirt. Wedge-wire openings, candle count and sizes vary with flow, viscosity and dirt type.
